Groups

Tjing offers a feature-rich group management system. You can easily manage groups for hundreds of players in multiple divisions, pools, and rounds.

Prepare Groups

When you have set your layout, preparing the groups is usually the final step before starting your round. If you use Flex or Group Signup, players have already registered into the groups. When using List Signup, you need to prepare the groups. Depending on the use of pools and if it's the first or a subsequent round, you will have different options.

By Division, Then Result

This is only available after the first round. Groups will be grouped by division and then by results, ensuring the players play with the correct players according to official PDGA sorting. Group size is based on what setting you have chosen in the event settings. If there is not a divisible number of players for a division, they will be added to a "mixed" group last in the field. This "mixed" group is most likely something you want to handle before starting, ensuring the best possible solution based on availability in other groups and starting holes.

Randomize Within Division

Perfect option for the first round, players will be randomized within the divisions. Similar to the By Division, Then Result, uneven divisions will sort players to a "mixed" group last in the field.

Randomize All

Similar to the Randomize Within Division but mixing all players regardless of division.

Same Groups

Only available for subsequent rounds. Players will be grouped by the same groups as the previous round.

Empty Groups

If you want to manually sort the groups or create groups for players to register to when using Flex or Group Signup.

Automation

When using our automation, Tjing will automatically create groups for players to register to if you are using Flex or Group Signup. By default, we create one group per hole on the current layout.

Overall Group Management Options

Rearrange Groups

If you have already created groups but you need to rearrange them, you can do so here. Ideal if you need to get an empty group in between other groups or a specific group needs to be moved and you don't want to move the individual players.

Change Start Hole

You can select any hole in the current layout to be the starting hole for all of the groups.

Adjust Start Times

If you are using tee-times, you can easily set times based on a time interval preference. If this is a subsequent round, you can also choose to have earliest or latest time first based on how you have arranged the groups.

Time Interval Preference

If you have time intervals enabled, the groups will automatically change their starting times with existing differences in mind. For example, if you have groups starting with 10 minutes in between each other but you want to delay a group by 5 minutes, you simply change the start time for that group and the rest of the groups' starting times will be adjusted accordingly.

Add Group

If you need more groups, simply add one.

Delete Groups

Until you start the round, you can delete groups. If you had a custom sorting or randomized groups, you will need to manually recreate them or use one of the existing sorting options when creating new groups.

Group Specific Options

Change Start Hole

You can change the start hole for the group.

Set Start Time

You can set the start time for the group.

Move Players to Another Group

You can move players to another group. This makes it easy to move all players to another group or swap them with players in another group.

Add Player from Waiting List

You can add a player from the waiting list to the group.

Add Unassigned Players

Players that are in the "Confirmed" list can manually be added to the group.

Add Marshall

A Marshall can be added to the group to help with scoring and other tasks. When a scoring Marshall is added to a group, the group will not be scoring themselves but the Marshall will.

Delete Group

Should the group not be needed, you can delete it.

Manage Players in Groups

Click to Move

Click on the "Handle" to select a player and then on the "Handle" in another group to move the player to that group. You can easily swap players between groups. You can also move players within the same group to change the starting order.

Drag & Drop

On larger devices such as laptop or desktop computers, you can use the drag & drop feature to move players between groups.

Sign Result

Should the player not be able to sign their result, you can sign it for them.

DNF

If a player did not finish the round, you can mark them as DNF. Normally the players mark themselves as DNF, but if they are not able to do so, you can do it for them. If they made a mistake, you can also correct it.

Remove from Group

Removing a player from a group does not remove them from the event. It simply removes them from the group so you can add them to another group or move them to another pool.
