Add difficulty rating to a layout

To make rounds eligible for a Tjing Rating, the course layout must have a registered difficulty rating. This ensures a fair and transparent system for comparing player performance—regardless of weather, format, or playing context. The difficulty is set by a Course Guardian and added directly in the layout settings.

Why is this important?

Adding a difficulty rating:

  • Enables Tjing Rating for rounds played on the layout
  • Ensures fair and consistent scoring across layouts
  • Helps clubs and players track performance and progress over time

💡Course Guardians

Only users with the Course Guardian role can edit a layout’s difficulty rating. If you wish to become a Guardian, contact your club or Tjing Support.

How to do it:

  1. Go to your course in Tjing Admin

Log in and navigate to the course where you are registered as a Guardian.

  1. Open the layout

Click the Layouts tab and select the layout you'd like to rate.

  1. Edit difficulty settings

In the Difficulty section, adjust the four sliders:

  • Length – overall length in relation to par
  • Terrain – how varied and physically demanding the terrain is
  • Precision – the level of accuracy required for successful play
  • Obstacles – number and complexity of obstacles (e.g., trees, water, OBs)
  1. Save your changes Once the sliders are set, click Save. The system will automatically calculate a difficulty-based rating tied to the layout’s par.

Once a layout has a difficulty rating, all rounds played on it become eligible for a Tjing Rating – a key feature for players aiming to track their performance with accuracy and consistency.
