Setting up events
The essentials
Getting started has never been easier. Complete the 3–4 steps in our Builder, which requires only the minimum information and takes a minute or two. Once done, go to the Manager and open registration. That’s it—players can now register for your event.
Before the event can be started, you need to add a course to the round and prepare the groups. Once done, simply start the round, and players will have their scorecards available in the Tjing app.
There are, of course, a lot more adjustments and features available through the Manager, which are covered in other support pages. Most of the heavy lifting is done for you so you can focus on giving your players a great experience.
The builder
Tjing supports several types of tournaments and ways to play them. While random doubles leagues are a great way to engage the community, this guide focuses on a standard setup for a one-off event and a weekly league.

- Select disc golf
- Select one-off
- Select individual
- Add the mandatory event details:
- Event name
- City or location
- Start date
- Click create event You’re now done. Your event has been added to the manager. You can open registration immediately, or spend some time in the manager to add more details and configure the event fully.
Weekly league
- Select disc golf
- Select league
- Select individual
- Add the mandatory league details:
- League name
- City or location
- Course and layout
- Start date
- Number of weeks the league will run
- Click create event You’re now done. Your league is available in the manager. As with one-off events, you can open registration immediately or configure additional details in the manager.
Adding details to all events
If you are running multiple rounds or want to copy information to all events, you can do so easily using the Smart copyfunction in the manager.
The manager
This is where you administrate your event or league. The manager has many settings and features, which we won’t cover in full here—these are detailed in other support pages. We will, however, cover some basics that enhance your events and ensure a smooth competition day. A separate guide on competition day provides a checklist for convenience.
Details
One of the most important parts is adding details about yourself as a TD and other information about the event. You can add caddybooks, cover images, descriptions, terms and conditions, and much more depending on the size of your event.
If your event is organised by a club or a promoter, make sure to add them as an organisation. This helps promote the event on their pages and also links back to their pages from your events.
Starting formats & layouts
Adding layouts is not required immediately, but we recommend adding them and double-checking starting formats as soon as possible. Using tee-times when players expect a shotgun start can cause confusion just minutes before tee-off.
Registration & scoring methods
Most events automatically confirm players, and if the event gets full, additional players are added to the waiting list. Tjing can automatically confirm players if you enable this feature. You can also configure registration using flex or group signup. Make sure you select the options you want for your event.
Tjing also offers several scoring methods. While most non-sanctioned events use the verifier or the signature, PDGA-sanctioned events may use group scoring, which provides a unique scorecard for each player in the group alongside hole-by-hole verification to reduce mistakes.
Copy to events
Once you have set up an event as you want it, you can easily copy rounds, details, and settings to other events in your tour or league using the Smart copy function.
Wrapping up
Adding details to your event provides clarity for players and reduces questions for you.
