Managing courses and layouts
Creating and mapping a new layout
As a course guardian, you can define and map a layout hole-by-hole using Tjing’s map tools. Here’s how to do it:
1. Open the layout for editing
- Go to your course page.
- Find your layout and press 'Explore layout'.
- From the layout page, press 'Edit layout'.
- Then press 'Edit holes' to open the map editor.
2. Add holes to the map
- Press 'Add to map'.
- A default tee, line, and basket will appear on the map.
- Drag each element to the correct position:
- Tee
- Basket
To angle the line connecting the tee and basket, click anywhere on the line to add nodes and drag them to shape the fairway.
If you’ve already mapped a similar layout, you can copy a hole’s coordinates from another layout to reuse the same tee and basket positions.
Tip – Overlaying layouts
If your course has other layouts or points of interest added, you can expand the sidebar footer to show them. These will overlay on the map you're editing, which can help you align elements or avoid overlap.
3. Add hole details
For each hole, you can add:
- Par
- Length (auto-calculated or entered manually)
- OB
- Mandos
- Hazards
- Local rules
- Hole notes to clarify rules or give extra info for players.
- Hole name (for custom-named holes)
4. Complete and save
- Continue adding as many holes as needed.
- When finished, press 'Save layout'.
Editing an existing layout
Editing an existing layout follows the same steps as creating a new one.
When you save, a new version of the layout is automatically created. This way, older versions stay linked to any scores or stats recorded before the changes.
